Privacy
You play Anatomivia without an account, and playing tells us nothing about who you are. This page says what the game keeps on your device, what reaches anyone else, and where we stand on children and classrooms.
The short version
- No account. There is nothing to sign up for and nothing to sign in to.
- Your game stays on your device. Today's tries, your statistics and your streak are kept in your own browser and are never sent to us.
- Your answers are checked on your device. What you type is not sent anywhere and is not kept.
- No cookies from us and no advertising. Anatomivia sets no cookie, shows no ads, and sells or passes on nothing about you.
- Visits are counted as totals. Cloudflare, which delivers the site, counts page views without cookies and without following anyone from site to site.
What stays on your device
So that the game remembers you tomorrow, it keeps three small entries in your browser's local storage, for this site only:
- Today's game,
an_daily - The day, whether you have started and finished it, and one mark for each try: how close a wrong guess came, a zoom-out, or the right answer. The words you typed are not kept. Only one day is held; the next day's game replaces it.
- Your statistics,
an_stats - How many days you have played and won, how many tries each win took, and the last day counted. No day's answer is kept.
- Your streak,
an_streak - Your current and best streak, the last day you finished, and the day a missed day was last let off (one missed day a week does not end a streak).
None of this is sent to us or to anyone else, and it does not follow you to another browser or device. Clearing this site's data in your browser erases it. A private window may keep nothing, or forget it when it closes; the game still plays.
The site's owner has two more entries, an_admin and an_unmask, on their own devices only, for a testing view that visitors do not see. A visitor's browser never holds them.
Children and classrooms
Anatomivia is an anatomy game for a general audience, and students and teachers are welcome to use it. This is our position on children's privacy.
- Anatomivia keeps no personal information about anyone, children included. There is no account, so none can be made for a child. The game asks for no name, no email address, no age, no photo, no voice and no location, it keeps no record of any visit, and what it keeps on the device never leaves it. Cloudflare handles each visitor's IP address in order to deliver and protect the site (see below); Anatomivia never stores it and does not use it to identify anyone.
- No one is asked their age. Because Anatomivia keeps nothing personal about anyone, it keeps nothing about a child under 13, or under the age of digital consent where you live, which is as high as 16 in parts of Europe.
- Nothing a child types is sent to us. Answers are checked on the device. The game has no chat, no comments, no profiles and no public list of players.
- No advertising and no profiling. Nothing here is used to build a picture of any person, child or adult.
- For teachers. Project the game, or let students play on their own devices. There is no roster, no student account and nothing to install.
- For parents and guardians. Everything the game remembers sits in your child's own browser. Clearing this site's data there erases it; there is nothing on our side to remove.
Who else is involved
- Cloudflare delivers the site and protects it from abuse. Like any web host it handles each visitor's IP address in order to send the page. Its Web Analytics shows us page views, referring sites, countries and browser types as totals, without cookies and without following anyone from site to site. Cloudflare may set a short-lived security cookie when it needs to tell a person from a bot.
- Nobody else, when the page opens. The 3D models, the typefaces and the software that draws the body are all served from this site. The one script from elsewhere is Cloudflare's analytics.
- Sharing. When you have finished, Share opens the share menu of your phone or tablet where it has one, and otherwise copies your result. The result is the day's number, your score out of six, one coloured square for each try, your streak when it is two days or more, and the site's address. It never names the answer. Nothing is sent until you send it yourself, to whoever you choose.
- Links. Each answer links to its Wikipedia article, and the credits page links to the projects Anatomivia is built on. Nothing goes to those sites unless you follow a link. If you do, the site you open is told you came from anatomivia.com and nothing else about the page you were on, and its own privacy policy applies.
Removing your data
Anatomivia keeps no record of any player, so there is nothing for us to remove. Everything the game remembers sits in your own browser; clearing this site's data there erases it.
